Juan David, profundamente enamorado de Muriel, le confiesa su mayor temor: que Rosario Montes, movida por los celos y la ira, pueda causar algún daño a la joven. Durante la visita de Rosario a la Hacienda de los Reyes-Elizondo, Norma la acusa de estar acosando a su hijo Juan David, lo que hace que Rosario pierda los estribos y trate de atacarla, haciendo que Juan Reyes se vea obligado a intervenir para reconducir la situación. Posteriormente, Rosario exige a su hija que se aleje de Juan David, pero la joven se niega acatar sus órdenes.
